Play Dough

Easy entertainment and CHEAP!

I can remember my mom making play dough for us as kids. We always had fun playing at the kitchen table with the play dough and kitchen utensils.

Play Dough for Children- recipe from Dining With Pioneers

1 c. flour
1 c. water
1/2 c. salt
1 Tbsp. cooking oil
2 tsp. cream of tartar
Few drops of food coloring

In a heavy aluminum saucepan, mix dry ingredients. Add oil, water and food coloring. Cook 3 minutes or until mixture pulls away from side of pan; knead slightly. Store in an airtight container.

I have a recipe similar to this but you use a packet of unsweetened kool aid as the coloring and it smells fruity! I haven't tried it for Georgia yet...maybe I should! Thanks for the reminder!

That is great fun!!! I am glad to see you creating activities for Jack to play in his high chair. That time teaches his attention span to grow. It also allows you time to do other things you may need to get done. Did Jack choose his color? I like the blue. Aunt Di

I just decided this afternoon to make play dough for Ezra. The kid has some issues with texture and hates to get stuff on his hands. We must remedy this with swift and immediate play dough therapy:D How providential that you left a recipe!

The Kool-Aid sounds like a great idea, but I'm thinking back to my high school days when I used Kool-Aid to dye my hair and am curious as to whether I might end up with a psychedelic baby on my (his?)hands?
