Simple Starbucks Survey - Have Fun!
So I'll start back to Starbucks next week. My store is great to be so flexible with my crazy travels. I'm looking forward to getting back on the bar. On family vacation it came to my attention that our dearest Gran and Frank (Susan's Grandmother and cousin) did not know what to get when they went into a Starbucks. So I promised to post some recommendations. I remember the first Starbucks I ever visited and what drink I ordered. It was the big Starbucks right across from Vanderbilt that is always loaded with students. I went with my good buddy Jeff Bourque. I had a chai latte. It was my first...and it was good. I think my favorite Starbucks I have ever been to would have to be the one I worked at in New Brunswick, NJ on George Street. Classic feel. Close to the train station. 30 minute train ride to NYC. The store I met the VP of Victoria's Secret. (Oh I didn't tell you about that? He hooked me up with complimentary package that arrived at the apartment a few days later.) Nevertheless, I think its my favorite Starbucks. Now we need to help out Gran and Frank. There are often new drinks arriving on the menu. But I will try to give you a little direction and hopefully our readers will give their input as well. On a really cold day in the winter my favorite is either: Tall Black and White, 170 degrees Mocha, or Grande Gingerbread (tiny bit of eggnog) 170 degrees latte, and every now and then I'll get a Tall 170 degrees Peppermint Mocha. On a regular day but I need a big pick me up, my favorite is a Short White Mocha or a Double Tall ToffeeNut Latte. On a very hot day I'll usually go with an Iced Grande Caramel Macchiato or a Grande Mocha Frappuccinno. My favorite drink to enjoy in a mug is Grande Hazelnut dry 170 degrrees, chocolate powder on top, cappuccinno. So help us out! Beings that there are 122 Starbucks within 2 miles of NYU - You've probably been to one somewhere.
1) Where was the first Starbucks you ever entered? Was there a special occasion involved?
2) Where is your favorite Starbucks you've been to?
3) What is your favorite drink at Starbucks. (by all means you do not have to be as detailed as I was, but whatever you desire.)
For all those folks who want to type something about other coffee shops, be patient, another post is coming soon about other coffee shops.

1) Uhm, I do believe it was probably in Chicago.
2) I liked the one in the Atlanta Mall..it was nice and the workers were very sweet.
3) I love me some Tall Carmel Frapachinno with extra Carmel on top.
That was me, Hannah!
fufu drinks much?? venti black coffee please.
I honestly don't know the answers to #1 and #2, but my fav drink fluctuates periodically.
Right now, I'm on a no-whip grande caramel frappiccino with an extra shot. Before that, I always got an iced triple grande latte (maybe with a pump of something sweet), before that it was (and is still sometimes) a grande peppermint mocha (which they do have year-round). I've also discovered Starbucks canned Iced Coffee, which is pretty tasty.
But, if I'm trying to watch the calories, I go with the non-fat latte. A tall only has 100 calories in it!
I can't remember where I first went into a Starbucks. I do remember not really ever wanting to go with Ellie because I didn't like coffee and then one night Freddy T. asked me to go and I went. I think I hurt her feelings that night, but I enjoy going now. I like the vibes in all the NYC starbucks. They are always hopping and its fun to sit in those and watch the people, especially on a really cold day. My choice drink is a tall, toffee nut latte with an extra pump of the toffee nut syrup and whip cream of course. And I really liked it when they would sprinkle the toffee nut shavings on top but for some reason they don't do that anymore. I also like the coffee flavored Starbucks drink that you buy in the little glass bottles at gas stations (a recent craving!)
1.) The first Starbucks I ever entered was in the Green Hills area in Nashville. It's across from the mall and not real attractive for a Starbucks, but I had my first Caramel Machiatto, which consequently is my favorite drink there. I was shopping in Nashville with a friend--we even took a picture, if I remember right. She bought a CD while we were there, and everytime I hear a song from that album, I'm transported back to that Starbucks!
2.)The coolest one I've ever been to was in a residential area of Washington D.C. We were on vacation and were going to attend Capitol Hill Baptist Church (where Dr. Dever is pastor), but we had time to kill, so as we walked from the metro link to the church, we stumbled upon a very cool 'Bucks. It was two stories, had brick walls on the inside, lots of windows. AND--they served hot breakfast sandwiches--the best I've had (I'd never been to a 'Bucks that served hot food!)
3.)The aforementioned Caramel Machiatto (non fat, please) is my favorite drink, but I'm known to splurge with a Peppermint Mocha on occaision. When I was in college, I lived on ToffeeNut Lattes--maybe they had more caffiene--they sure seemed like it!
I can't remember where was the first one that I went in. Probably the one accross from Vanderbilt. I like it because it has the fireplace and that is so cozy on a cold day. My favorite drink is anything with rasberry and white chocolate. Diana

I first visited Starbucks in Kennesaw, Georgia. Then it was next to Rio Bravo (out of business now). My favorite Starbucks is here in New Brunswick, where Freddy T himself actually made me my favorite "hot drink", Tall White Chocolate Mocha. Cold drink......I loved the Grande Iced Cinnamon Dolce Latte, now I can get my friend Branden (also a barista) to make me some sort of version that is super (since it is not on the menu anymore). If you have not had a Cinnamon Dolce Latte, hot or cold, try it try it!! If you ask nice enough The Sbux crew will create one for ya...
Let me comment on the complimentary package from Victoria Secrets. While we were living in New Brunswick Freddy told me one day that he met "a very interesting person" but would not tell me who it was and told me I would find out in a week or so. I kind of forgot about it until one day we had a notice on our mailbox that a package was waiting for us in the front office. So I went to get the package and my name was on it and it was from Victoria Secrets and I freaked out. I had no idea what was inside but knew there had to be a mistake because I had not ordered anything. So I took it up to our apartment and immediately gave it to him and said "I believe this is yours." Then he reminded me of the "interesting person" he had mentioned meeting earlier that week. Then he told me the story (which he can share the details later if you want to know them) and I proceeded to open the package where I found a big bottle of womens and mens perfume and body lotion. It was a nice gift and needless to say I was quite relieved!
my 'first time' was in a Starbucks just outside of my university in Georgia-- I remember I had no idea what menu to even look at... although, I think I'm suppose to say my fav is the Sbux I work at here in NJ, my real favorite locale is the one in downtown Athens Georgia-- it's two story and has a lot of brick and local artist stuff... my favorite drink changes with the weather, but right now it's an iced grande two splenda green tea... and just for brownie points, the Starbucks in Beijing is pretty fun too-- it's strange to hear a familiar 'frappachino' mixed in with a language you don't understand
no..no..no.. susan!!!
you werent supposed to tell the story!! i already knew that!!
oh well, you are with child, so i suppose you can tell whatever stories you want!

does anyone go to starbucks to get something where you can actually taste the coffee? or am I the only one who gets an extra shot in my drinks?
1) I'd been through drive-thrus, but the first one I actually entered was at Cool Springs Blvd., Franklin , TN... "girls' night out" reunion with 3 friends from my high school youth group/summer college group. We chatted outside til 11:o0 p.m., which brought back memories of late night chats with other friends over coffee and cheese sticks at Iman's in Martin...
It's a sign you're getting old and you are married when 11:00 p.m is late.
2) Whichever one satisfies my sudden craving for a coffee-based drink. (I am not a regular coffee drinker.) I suspect my new favorite will be he one that is soon to go up about a half mile from our house. I will potentially be able to take my baby there for morning coffee breaks! Might even walk, although the thought of walking back up the big hill might change my mind when the time comes...
3) Carmel macciato...yumm!!!!
leslie, often drinks are too sweet for me and I get an extra shot thrown in. I'm feelin ya. Hey, I know your music minister Tom Mosley. The summer I worked at Choice he came on and worked a little bit.
9 times out of 10, i get plain 'ol coffee, the colombia narino supremo is my favorite.
-stephen (im done with this thread... what is *wrong* with you people??? fredyy + victoria secret package = jokes for years)
And this may be an ignorant question coming from a coffee lover, but Freddy T, what is the 170 degrees thing? Is it just extra-hot or something altogether different? Just curious.
great question! normally the limit we steem milk to at SBUX is like 160. I've found that 170 is nice and hot and stays hot a lot longer than the 160. yep yep.
Thanks, FreddyT. that is what I thought, but now I know to ask for it 170 degrees, esp. in the winter time when drinks cool off too quickly.
Thanks for praying about the house situation--we're still in limbo, but we are hopeful!
