Easter

Happy Easter!

The kids were excited to wake up and find their Easter baskets filled with a few fun things.

We headed to church and had a great morning with our Gallery Church family.  A mission team was in town last week and passed out around 25,000 invites to our Easter service.  We think there were around 60 or so visitors at church this morning.  The service was packed!  It was the largest attendance we've had since we've been a part of Gallery Church, really exciting!  This is about our 6th week meeting at Hill Country BBQ, downstairs.  We out grew the space we've been meeting in over the past 3 years and if today is any indication of what's to come we'll be making adjustments again to our services and location in the near future.

On the bus Jack, Elliott, and Lillie enjoyed their "ring pops"

Lillie got pink bunny ears in her basket.  As soon as we got to church she tore her bow out of her hair and wore these bunny ears the rest of the day.

Last Thursday we dyed eggs.  Jack and Elliott were very particular about what colors they choose and how long each egg stayed in the dye.  Lillie just dunked eggs in any color back to back, with her hands.  Hers were all marbled looking instead of the normal bright colors.

Jack wrote this during the Good Friday service
"You should worship the Lord.  Jesus Christ is the best thing in the whole wide world.  Signed Jack"

Yes Jack!  You got it right this year.  This is truth... He is the best thing in the whole wide world!

Tae Kwon Do

About a month ago the kids started taking Tae Kwon Do.  Elliott was the first to start and a few weeks later Lillie gave it a try.  Elliott and Lillie are in a class for kids 3-5.  They work on basic kicks and punches and are learning their numbers and a handful of phrases in Korean.  They are working on their Pee Wee belts, the beginner levels of TKD.  The belts they are working toward look like this.

Jack is taking right now as well, but he's still in his trial period.  We'll see if he wants to keep taking.  Lillie and Elliott are signed up for the year, Jack may be month to month for a little bit.  His class is made up of kids working on all levels of belts.  He is of course only on the white belt level, but there are all different levels in the same class, so his is more advanced than Lillie and Elliotts.

The structure and discipline expected in TKD is really great.  The Masters are very nice but have high expectations of the kids.  So much that it could be a little intimidating but all the kids taking lessons seem to respond really well and have a great time in the class.  Here is a list of the rules.

This was Lillie's trial day.  She received her uniform afterwards.

Jack's First Loose Tooth

February 18th was a big day for Jack... he pulled his first tooth.

One evening while we were in Delaware Freddy T. started to say the blessing before dinner and Jack interrupted "My tooth is really loose!"  He had just discovered it and it was very loose.  As we walked in our apartment, a few days later, he went straight to the kitchen for a baggie and  a Kleenex and headed to the bathroom.  Two minutes later he came out with the tooth in the bag and a big grin on his face!

Spirit Week

The kids were on winter break the last week in February.  Originally they had the whole week off, but due to Hurricane Sandy the board of education took away 3 of their vacation days.  In effort to make those days at school a little more exciting than normal they had spirit week.

Wednesday was Sports Day- Go Steelers!

Thursday was Twin Day-
Lillie and Elliott's class decided to all wear stripes and the boy's in Jack's class decided to all wear a shirt and tie.

Friday was PS 40 Day (they had to wear red, school colors)-  I don't have a picture for this one.

Parker: 7 Months

7 Months!

I had to tape the sign to the high chair for this picture.  There is no way it would have been visible if I laid it beside him, he would have put it right in his mouth!

Parker is so much fun.  He started eating baby food this past month.  At this point he's had bananas, pear, peaches, avocado, green beans, peas, carrots, asparagus, and sweet potatoes.  So far he hasn't rejected any of it!

We went for his check up and he weighed 21 lbs. 4 oz and 28 inches long.  He is very healthy and active.  Parker is still not sitting up alone, he is making more and more progress but you can't just sit him down on the floor and leave him.  He is trying to crawl.  He pushes up on his hands and feet then drawls his knees in.  It won't be long.  He is making his way around on the floor just fine though.  He can scoot and roll to get to anything he wants.  It's about to get real interesting around here!
