Happy New Year

Happy New Year!

A year ago Freddy and I took a day and went to the Larson's lake house to reflect on 2007 and set goals and make a plan for 2008. His goals were written in blue, mine in red, and things we wanted to accomplish together in black. We felt good about our plan.

Proverbs 16:9
In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps.

That's the verse that comes to mind when I consider all that 2008 held. We started the year as a family of 3, living in a house in a neighborhood, 2 cars, a job with a secure income, in Clarksville, TN surrounded by most of our family. We ended the year as a family of 5, living in an apartment an the 19th floor, no car, raising our support to do ministry in the most strategic city in the world, the place God has called our family to plant our lives, New York City.

What a year! I could have never guessed all that would take place. I'm glad I didn't know. Knowing I'd be living in NYC would have been scary, doing it with a 2 year old and twins would have sent me over the edge. God has been gracious to me and to us as a family. He has given us the strength and faith and excitement to follow his call. I think my natural tendency would be to face 2009 a little scared, leery of what is coming that I don't know about, but I'm choosing something different. I'm facing 2009 with faith. Faith that God knows what is best for me, faith that he will see our family through each day and give us new mercies each morning.

I'm excited about the new year. It's a fresh start in a new place. Hopefully we are finally getting settled, maybe no major life changes will take place this year, but if they do come I know God will see us through them and prove himself faithful once again.

Happy New Year Everyone!

You guys are an amazing encouragement to so many to follow their dreams, their hearts, and ultimately God's will. I love Proverbs 16:9. It is one of my life verses.

This post is a good journal. You may need to go back and read it several times in 2009 as your faith is stretched at times. Stand firm! Praying for you in the New Year!

I recently came across a copy of the email I sent a friend when we found out we were expecting Georgia and it was so funny what I thought the next year or so would hold. God had greater plans for us too! I can't wait to see what He has for all of us in 2009! Blessings to you all in NYC!

Maxine says that your blog for this day was beautiful and she thinks you could write a book. She enjoys for me to show her the blog for her to keep up with you guys. She says you don't look big enough to carry both babies so she is expecting your partner (FT) to carry his weight. hahaha Love Aunt Di

It was wonderful to read your blog this morning and to see the positive outlook you have and the faith in Christ and where he has you planted at this time in your life. God has blessed you all tremendously. Your life and ministry will encourage others to take that step out in faith and obedience. I know the road will not be easy for any of you but God is faithful and he will walk with you each step of the way. Stay strong. We love you, miss you and pray for you daily.
Much Love, In Christ,
Kari and Mark
