Twins: 4 Months

Lillie and Elliott hit the 4 month mark today (and I'm actually getting them on the blog on the exact date!) I guess things are becoming routine around here. I'm happy to say that all my children go down for a nap between 1 and 1:30 and all 3 sleep for a few hours and then Lillie and Elliott go to bed between 7 and 7:30 and Jack follows between 8 and 8:30. Now all other times of the day are still slightly unpredictable, but each day we are getting a little closer to a routine. If only Lillie and Elliott would sleep all the way through the night. They are sleeping about 8 hours straight, usually waking up between 3 and 4. I'm sure some of you are thinking... if they can sleep 8 hours then why not keep them up a little longer then put them to bed. We've tried! It doesn't matter, they wake up at 3 or 4. So hopefully next month I can report differently.

I'm looking forward to sharing real soon glimpses of what our days and outings look like. For tonight I'm going to do this, log off and enjoy reading... something I haven't had a good chance to do in a while!

(don't know why it came up sideways, they never look like this in my files)

Silly Lillie. She sticks her tongue out a lot.

I tried to get a good one together... Lillie kept knocking Elliott in the cheek

Remember these gifts? You'll get to see the TW IN ones later in the year!

Have you ever done a "dream feed"

You feed them a bottle while sleeping right before you go to be, maybe 10 pm or so and it often eliminates the 3 or 4 am feed. You literally pick up a sleeping baby and put a bottle in thier mouth and they eat while sleeping. I LOVED it.

Just thought I'd pass the idea along. I read about it in a few books.

We have tried to feed them, but we wake them up around 10, actually get them out of the bed and they are wide awake. It didn't seem to help, they were still awake in the wee hours of the morning. I'll have to read more about "dream feeding" It sounds interesting.

Those are such cute pictures! They look so cuddly! I'm glad you're getting to settle in a little bit. I'm really nervous about Piper getting here and being able to coordinate naps, bedtimes, etc. It's good to hear firsthand experience! Oh, by the way, I tried the dream feeding with Charlie and it never worked...but who knows? It may be just what your little ones need to make it through! Also, have you let them cry it out for a while at that time? Charlie let getting up at 3 or 4 become a habit and we eventually broke it by letting him get himself back to sleep. Just some thoughts...I'm certainly no expert!!

Susan, I am proud of you for being on schedule with the pictures. Having been there with you, I know it is hard to find the time to do things that are not absolutely necessary. The pictures are precious and noone would ever guess Lillie and Elliott were preemies by looking at them now. Can hardly wait to get my hands on them and Jack and give you a hug, too. Love to all, Gran

They are really starting to look like you and freddy. As far as the 3am feedings. Micaiah was still doing that at 8,9,10,11 months. I was like are you kidding me. We finally had to start feeding him outmeal or a lot of french fries. Something very carby.I know they can't do that yet but maybe you should start cereal. Just a thought....

Susan,
Congratulations on your babes. They are all gorgeous. I did not know you were not living in Clarksville until tonight 4/04/09. A friend of a friend was talking about your Mom and Donna and I said, did you know Susan and Freddy were having twins and they said you had them. I googled you and there you were!
